Saint Philomenia Shrine

St. Mary's Catholic Church

Briggsville, Wisconsin

Just down the road from The Pheasant Inn, located on the grounds of St. Mary's Church, stands the sacred shrine of St. Philomena.

Virgin and martyr, St. Philomena was only 13 years old when she was pierced with arrows and slain for her faith. Her rosary is made up of 13 red and white beads, representing her years on earth, her martyrdom and her purity.

One of the miracles associated with St. Philomena took place when a faithful woman from Mugnano, Italy dipped her finger into the oil of the lamp which burned in front of the altar of the Saint. She annointed the eyelids of her blind child with the oil and the child immediately received sight, astonishing all those present. A place of peace and reverence, the shrine of St. Philomena welcomes all for refreshment of spirit, personal reflection and holy intercession.
